So Days Of Our Lives has taken the first step and allowed Will Horton to kiss a boy, but how does this stack up to other soaps "first" attempt at the realm of same sex kisses? Let's take a moment and compare and contrast this monumental event with some other noteworthy ones.
First up let's look at the worlds longest running soap Guiding Light attempt in 2009 with Olivia and Natalia's one and only kiss shared in January 2009.
Yea Oliva just kinda plowed into poor Natalia there, but it was this one kiss that sparked a TON of debate and questioned everything, while fully kicking off the Olivia and Natalia love story. Now you might be asking - Wait there is a love story? But didn't you just say this was there one and only kiss? Yep it was, that's the craziness of Procter and Gamble for ya.
Speaking of which, Procter and Gamble actually let a boy kiss a boy on one of their other soaps As The World Turns
Yea it's a bit more conservative than Will and Neil's first pashing, but at the time they were the only thing that daytime had willing to 'go there', and in a way created a lot of talk about As the world turns in a time when the show really needed it.
Down under in 2009 Home and Away stirred up a bit of drama of it's own having Charlie experiment with Joey.
Yea to believe a lot of drama was started for...that? But it's true.
Over across the pond in the United Kingdom we had Sophie and Sian hooking up in 2010-
Back stateside One Life to Live embraced on a same sex story with Kyle and Fish-
While in the UK John Paul got to Snog his pal Craig Dean for the first time- Though this pash in particular was more for the reaction shot from John Paul's girlfriend Hannah than the duo's first time.

So when you look at those videos and you compare it to what Days of Our Lives did for their first kiss it is very impressive to see a show willing to "go" there with a couple. Could they have gone further and made the first kiss meaningful? Or better yet just have had the first kiss just been a "first kiss" and not something to really be a 'plot' point? Of course they could have, but for what it was, and what it was meant to do, I am impressed.
With that said what did you think of the kisses? There are countless others that I left out, but I am really interested in hearing what you have to say about it in the comments below, or on twitter @SoapWikiJohn
