Hey all,
Just like I did with Emmerdale I'm doing a live blog with EastEnders, so sit tight because this is sure to be an explosive episode that will keep us talking!
It's a sad day in the Branning house hold as the kids gather around, hoping to open their presents with their mom around and were bummed to hear Max tell them that she's not feeling up to it at the moment.
We are soap fans who live on Denial Island where crappy soap storylines never happen(ed). Sometimes we even blog about things we like...

Live Blogging Emmerdale Christmas!
Hey all i'm running a little bit behind this Christmas afternoon, but I will be live blogging the Emmerdale Christmas episode (and possibly the other soap episodes as well!) - Updates will be posted during commercials!
Part 1:
The news of Amy's choice to keep Kyle has made it's way around the dales. Adam got a Spice Girls CD from Aaron while Aaron got himself a Justin Beiber CD from Adam...oye.

Home and Away Actors Sing at Carols in the Domain
The 28th Woolworths Carols in the Domain concert was held last night in Sydney, featuring many homegrown talents singing everyone's favourite Christmas carols. While it heavily featured singers discovered from reality shows Australia's Got Talent, the X-Factor Australia and the now defunct Australian Idol, other talent came from soap Home and Away, including Georgie Parker (Roo Stewart), Jay Laga'aia (Reverend Elijah Johnson) and Justine Clarke (ex-Roo Stewart).

Actress Ellen Holly (Carla/Clara, OLTL) Sets Record Straight Re: ABC, OLTL, Agnes Nixon
For decades Agnes Nixon has been praised for the groundbreaking, topical and often controversial stories featured on the early years of her soaps All My Children and One Life to Live. One such story on OLTL was that of Carla Benari/Clara Gray - a light skinned black woman passing herself off as a white woman, who romanced both a black and white man. To this day television historians discuss the story and Nixon herself mentions it frequently as a story she's still very proud of (it's featured on her website as an important event on her 1960s timeline feature). Unfortunately, there's another side to the story.

RavenBeauty Holiday Extravaganza on Silas Kain BlogTalk Show
It's not often that a BlogTalk Radio show gets me all teary-eyed, but that's what happened when I listened to Silas Kain's RavenBeauty Holiday Extravaganza. Most of you ABC Soap fans know RavenBeauty. She's a hugely popular soap columnist/spoiler diva that's been around forever. Silas Kain is known to soap fans as the mastermind and driving force of the Coupon Campaign to Save Our Soaps. They're together again on his BlogTalk Radio show to celebrate soaps, soap fans and RavenBeauty herself. It was great to hear so many people showing their love and appreciation for RavenBeauty, who has been dealing with health issues recently. It was really very touching.
And there were some celebrity appearances! There was a Nora/Lindsay reunion (Hillary B. Smith and Catherine Hickland are so sweet and hilarious), Andrea Evans talked about her iconic role as Tina on OLTL, as well as her battle with cancer, and Ilene Kristen smack talked Brian Frons, discussed soaps and soap fans, and talked about her experiences at OLTL and what she would have liked to have seen for her character Roxie (a love interest, a more adversarial relationship with Vicki, for Jessica to have been Roxie's daughter.) And while she had very positive things to say about OLTL Exec Producer Frank Valentini and HW Ron Carlivati, she did mention that no one informed her of the Echo/Rex story and felt she'd been thrown under the bus in a way. I hear Michael E. Knight was on too, but there were a few times when BlogTalk was acting crazy for me (BlogTalk hates my computer for some reason), so that must have been when Knight called in because I didn't hear him at all...

Talk to you soon!

As one Denial Islander acutely observed: "es lindo!!"

Neighbours Survey: Have Your Say!
Just saw this on facebook - the Neighbours people have set up a survey to get YOUR views and opinions on the show and it's characters and storylines. So go vote now! Click this link or this link (I think either may work) to take you to the survey.
Ok, one of the questions is 'Which character are you most like?' LOL! I'd like to think I'm like none of them - this is a soap after all...

Neighbours Finale Live Blogging!
Hi Guys, I'm going to skip ahead about 4 months and watch Neighbours live tonight, just because it's the finale! So check in with me, I'll be updating this post at each ad break!
So Karl and Susan are still stuck somewhere. They're having a domestic over Karl banging on the door to alert people they're stuck. Toadie moves his car and they get out. Were they stuck in a self-storage facility?!? LOL!!!
Summer is freaking about the VCE exam results... when are they coming? Chris wanders into Charlie's, he's obviously preoccupied with something - ahh he's expecting test results... ahh and he's not told anyone. Ok, what's the test for? Summer gets a text. It's her VCE results - a 99! Oh but wait, Michael knows she cheated. Just kidding! Dream sequence alert!
Lucas and Tash's aunt Emilia (she's not in the episodes I'm up to watching - thanks to @remued for alerting me to who she is!). They're looking at video footage of the day of Chris' attack I think? Who is the mystery person?!? Lucas goes to see a Mr Noonan, who is obviously dodging seeing Lucas. Lucas prepares to wait.

Sons of Anarchy Season 4 Finale Babble!
The much anticipated Sons of Anarchy finale has aired, and the reaction of viewers has been decidedly mixed. Some were satisfied with the two-parter and felt it was a nice set up to Season 5, while others were underwhelmed and thought it was anti-climactic, particularly the second episode. From the comments I’ve read online, the chief complaints seem to be that the twists were too convenient and contrived, it wasn’t action-packed, no one died, the resolutions they wanted didn’t happen (ie. Clay should have died) and the conflicts that have been building all season were suddenly resolved in ways that made them seem like afterthoughts as opposed to the major events we thought they were going to be (Juice’s dilemma, Potter’s storyline/RICO). While I understand the criticisms, I have to say that I really enjoyed the finale (both parts).
Full disclosure, as I said in a previous post, I’m a newbie to the show so my perspective will be very different than longtime viewers. I have no doubt that I’m judging the show and the finale much easier than others, and I totally admit it! So, here are some thoughts:

Voting Opens for the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards
Voting has opened for the 2012 TV Week Logie Awards - Australia's night of nights in terms of fan-voted television awards. Winners last year included actors Asher Keddie (Dr Nina Proudman, Offspring) for Most Popular Actress, and Hugh Sheridan (Ben Rafter, Packed to the Rafters) for Most Popular Actor. I think it was the first year that I can remember where an actor or actress from Aussie suds Home and Away or Neighbours hasn't won the Logie for Most Popular New Talent! Let's see if we can change that this year with a nomination for Steve Peacocke (Brax, Home and Away), Demi Harman (Sasha, Home and Away) or Gemma Pranita (Jade, Neighbours).
I'm not sure if Denial Islanders outside of Australia can vote, but try the link anyway. Voting closes February 19, 2012. The Logie (pronounced low-gies (as if you were saying get, not geez)) Awards are usually held the first week in May at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, and two years ago boasted international guests Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell from US soap Days of our Lives.
Roundup: Corrie Sex Abuse Scandal! Sons of Anarchy! JaSam Wedding! Bye-Bye AMC & OLTL!
Hey All, it's been awhile! Because of personal, professional and school commitments I haven't had much time for blogging, tweeting or even soap watching. But I'm Baaaaaack!!
So what's been going on?
The Happy:
JaSam Wedding
Finally! Jason and Sam are one of my all-time favorite Soap SuperCouples, so this marriage has been a dream come true for me (even if it was marred by more Franco Bullsh*t). But if JaSam has taught us one thing, it's that Love Always Triumphs. To me, JaSam is all about unconditional love *sigh*
Sons of Anarchy
Damn! This is the best soap I've seen in a long time! After hearing great things about the show, I decided to finally check it out. I was hesitant. Male dominated anti-hero shows can be popular but their a tough sell for me: most of the characters are unlikeable and a sexist perspective is sometimes present (Hello Sopranos!). But as it turns out this wild, testosterone-driven, violent biker show has a lot going for it. It's what Guza-era General Hospital so desperately tried to be. The action is intense, performances are terrific and it's got the soapy elements that I love: hyper-dramatic situations, crazy plot twists, cliffhangers, brilliant at it's best, contrived at it's worst. The thing I like the most? When you take away the Plot Points and the MacGuffins (those damn LETTERS) it's really all about the characters and their relationships with each other. It's their desires, needs, greed, narcissism, fears, betrayals, lovin' and hatin' that really drives the stories forward. Plus, I love the HOLY SH*T! OMG! ICan'tBelieveTheyJustDidThat! moments. I'm going to write more about SOA later, but for now I'll just say this show is Must Watch TV for me. Oh and...they better not kill Clay off!
The Sad:
Good-bye to AMC and the soon-to-be departed OLTL
I'm still kind of in denial about this. I've yet to watch the final few eps of AMC. They're just sitting on my DVR waiting to be watched. And I can't quite bring myself to watch what's left of OLTL. It's just too damn depressing. It's sad to see these beloved shows go and even sadder to know that this is signaling the end of the daytime soap genre as we know it. Saying good-bye to characters we've watched for years, sometimes decades, is like no other feeling. Only other daytime soap watchers really understand how heartbreaking it is for us.
The Shocking:
Coronation Street's Michael Le Vell Arrested For Sexual Assault
This has got to be the most shocking and upsetting soap-related story of the year. On Sept 30, Michael Le Vell (Kevin, Coronation Street) was arrested for rape of a 6-year-old girl (her age at the time of the alleged attack). The Corrie vet (he's been on the show for 28 years) denies the charges. He's currently out on bail until January while the charges are being investigated.
Boy, what do you even say about this? It's absolutely horrific. I'm just hoping that this is some terrible mistake, because the alternative is just too horrible to contemplate.
Ok all. Thanks for reading this rambling mess of a post, lol. I'm glad to be back and can't wait to dive right into the soap world again!
