Neighbours 6000th and remainder of the year teases..

The Pefect Blend caught up with Neighbours writer and Supervising Script Editor Pete McTighe where they discuss what happened in 2009, and preview the remaining episodes of the year.
Here is a quick sneek peak of the interview -
2010 marks Neighbours' 25th anniversary - we've already seen new opening titles and ad bumpers to mark the occasion - will there be any episodes to celebrate, as with the 20th anniversary week in 2005?
Absolutely - our 25th Anniversary culminates later this year with Block 1200, the Friday of that week will be Episode 6000 which is absolutely cause for celebration. That week will revolve around one central story which we will have been building to for some time, and kick off months of fallout for many of our most popular characters. And no, it's not Steph's secret.

Check out the full interview here.

Are you looking forward to the remainder of 2010? And what do you think the central story that Mr. McTighe teased is?

Alice Horton Funeral Dates Set!

It's the moment we all knew was coming. NBC has announced that the Days of our Lives Alice Horton (Frances Reid) funeral event will begin on June 23rd and finish up on the 25th.

I only got to see Alice for a brief period of time, but her presence is missed and there will continue to be a gaping hole left that Alice used to fill.

Will you be tuning in to say good-bye?

Winsor Harmon On Recurring At The Bold and the Beautiful

CBS Soaps In Depth is reporting that star Windsor Harmon who has played the role of Thorne Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful since 1996 has been pushed down to recurring status.

This news doesn't come as a shock as Thorne has been pushed more and more towards the background over the past ten years. With that said this news is still upsetting for many fans.

Did you expect this news to break? Do you think this could potentially be good news for Mr. Harmon who will now have time to try out for other roles? Or would you rather just see Thorne in a front burner storyline?

Melissa Suffield (Lucy Beale) Axed From EastEnders

It really isn't a good time to stir up trouble on the EastEnders set. Just ask Melissa Suffield who was just let go from the BBC1 soap after she allegedly ignored numerous warnings from bosses about her "unruly behaviour".

For more on this story head on over to digitalspy's coverage here.

What do you think of this axing? And isn't it funny how EastEnders/BBC1 has no problem telling its viewers "THIS IS WHY" whereas ABC is still keeping mum on the Drew Garrett debacle?

Why Neighbours Should Have NEVER Recast Declan Napier

So I have tried to be nice to Neighbours newest actor Erin Mullally who came into the role of Declan Napier by chance as star James Sorensen left the role to join the army.

While I completely commend James for his decicion to leave the series and serve his country. Why I do not agree with was the choice to recast Declan with Mr. Mullally. I am sorry but he is not Declan Napier! He is not that great of an actor, and to toss him into a much beloved role in the midst of a fan-favorite relationship between Declan and Kate Ramesy it is just a joke.

Erin does not fit Declan, they have not showed ANY "BIG" storyline that has been told that resulted in them having to keep Declan around. And writing him out could be extremely simple. Declan could have gotten a job away from Ramsey Street which forced him and India to move away, thus problem fixed! But nope, they recasted the role... and I am just waiting for the news to break that Erin is out.

Now let's take a step back, I am not in ANYWAY, Shape, or form blaming Mr. Mullally for taking the job, what I am blaming is the writers and the creative decision behind recasting the role and not having a real storyline built up for Erin to sink his teeth into and show why he deserved to be Declan.

Do you agree with me? OR am I being to harsh?

Why General Hospital's Prison Rape Storyline Hasn't Gone Far Enough!

Could this post be the highest debated topic that Denial Island has ever seen? Well we will just have to see won't we?

First off I want to state that I am not "PRO Prison rape" or "Pro rape" period. I think this is a serious topic, and as such it should be treated with the respect that every other type of storyline deserves. Now with that said I have been let down by the on-going prison rape storyline on ABC's General Hospital.

The story so far has not challenged the convention of daytime television. It has stayed within its cushy boundaries to tell a storyline they may or may not be happening, leaving the 'true' details up to the viewers imagination. This is a MAJOR cop-out for what is potentially the most controversial and realistic storyline that Daytime has handled in the last 10-15 years.

This has absolutely nothing to do with Drew Garret vs. Chad Duell, I think they are both talented actors, one was much beloved by fans, while the other was tossed into the role during the climatic point of the storyline. So it is in no way about who is better. I think if this storyline is done right (which I have no faith in it being) then Chad could completely make us forget about that 'Drew' character. But the way things are going I think this will be another blimpish on Genearl Hospital's record for taking storylines to the deeper level.

Now one might argue that it is because it is a soap, and it shouldn't really challange the ideals behind soap opera storytelling. But I think that is complete and utter bull. Soap Opera's around the world are constantly pushing buttons, going to places that NO other type of programming is willing to go. As a result they are constantly in the news as being fined or going under review by regulators. When was the last time a regulator even glanced at a soap opera for anything more then to say that them gay boys and girls kissing isn't what middle America want's to see? Oh wait that was just CBS and ABC not any form of regulatory authority.

I have high hopes and expectations from soaps, probably to high for my own good, but when a soap wants to tackle a 'real' issue that is on-going in our everyday lives then I expect them to come out and flat out say it. No I don't need to 'see' the rape taking place, but I need to see a lot more then a "Your going to pay" and a blood test. They could have the rapist the day after 'allude' to it by saying "See you in the showers, hope you don't drop the soap again" and constantly make us 'feel' as if the rape had happened, leaving not a bit of doubt in the viewers mind that 'this is what happened to Micheal'.

Am I going to far? Did General Hospital do what it needed to do for you as a fan? Or was this yet another let down for a soap that keeps letting its viewers down? Let me know what you guys think in the comments below.

Take A look at Jessica Leccia's First day on OLTL!

Inez played by the wonderfully talented Jessica Leccia will be soaping up our screens shortly, but what secrets is she hiding?

One rumor going around is that Inez is actually Rex's mother! Would you like that twist? Or would you rather someone else?

New Love Interest For OLTL's Starr?

ABC has cast Nic Robuck in the role of James, a new character that will come to town with *shocker* some secrets, and will be tied to Starr's upcoming Summer storyline.

Do you think James and Starr should hook up? And isn't it about time for Starr go fall in love with someone other then her highschool sweetheart / baby daddy?

Cricket Is Coming Home!

You hear that Young and the Restless fans? Cricket, played by the lovely and talented Lauralee Bell, is set to return home!

I have never seen Cricket on my screen, so this is sure to be a treat!

Thanks to the 411onsoaps for the tip!

No Jail For Gail Campaign!

So Inside Soap magazine has began a campaign to keep Gail out of jail, going so far as to put a big banner outside the Corronation Street sets in Manchester. For more pictures and details on this campaign click here.

Do you think Soap Opera Digest would ever do a "Keep Sami Out Of Jail" campaign? Or heck even a "Keep Victor Newman on our screens" campaign? After all he does sell soooooooooooo many magazine covers right?......*crickets* (YAY foreshadowing pun!)

Brian Frons Comments On SoapNet Shutting Down.

Head of ABC daytime Brian Frons was interviewed by TVGuide's Michael Logan. In this interview he makes a few interesting comments which are sure to be a good read to all soapfans.

Here is a quick bit from this exclusive interview-

What does the end of SOAPnet mean to the future of the ABC soaps?
We want the fans to know that we remain committed to All My Children, One Life to Live and General Hospital and that this in no way impacts their future. These soaps were on the air 30 to 40 years before SOAPnet came along and they will continue long after SOAPnet ends. ...we can survive without SOAPnet. What has happened here is no surprise.

What’s your forecast for the soaps themselves? Will AMC, OLTL and GH still be here in two years? In five years?
I certainly think they will be here in two years and I certainly hope they’ll be here in five years.

All three?
Yes, all three.

Hollyoaks Producer Paul Marques First Episode Air Date SET!

The VERY first question in an exclusive interview on the official Hollyoaks website has revealed that Paul Marques first episode as 'full' executive producer will air on July 5th 2010!

So set your calendars people because Hollyoaks is about to be the soap to watch! YAY

Are you looking forward to t his transition?Or did you like Lucy Allen?

Tomorrow When The War Began Trailer

Tomorrow When The World Began stars former Home and Away star Lincoln Lewis (ex-Geoff Campbell) and former Neighbours star Caitlin Stasey (ex- Rachel Kinski).

Hopefully this film will get a U.S. release date.

Jodi Gordon Lands Film Role!

Former Home and Away star Jodi Gordon has landed her first feature film role in "The Cup"!

The movie tells the story of jockey Damien Oliver, who rode horse Media Puzzle to win the 2002 Melbourne Cup, days after his brother and fellow jockey Jason died in a fall during a race.

Will you be going to see The Cup when it is released?

Martha Bryne "I Haven't Even Been Contacted"

Well isn't this just great. Actress Martha Bryne announced in a recent interview with
SOAP CENTRAL LIVE that As The World Turns has not contacted her for a return as either Rose of Lily for the finale. With that said the actress would be more then happy to return, even if it was for a day.

Now keep in mind that there is still some time left before the finale shoots, but it is not looking likely for a Martha Bryne return.

Are you dissapointed in this news? Would you have liked to see Martha return? Or are you happy that she isn't returning? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

Coronation Street's New Opening

What do you think of Coronation Street's new opening? Was it worth the wait?

Alf Stewart Rape Campaign On Facebook

Recently it has come out that a group of ....,oh who cares this blog isn't for profesional news stories its for our opinions, A group of Jack ---'s on the social networking site Facebook have began an 'Alf Stewart Rape Dungeon' page, which has nearly 10,000 fans.

Alf Stewart played by logie winning actor Ray Meagher, along with Channel 7 have stated that they will not dignify this with a comment.

With all that said, what these people are doing is sick, and disgusting. They are overdubbing old Home and Away clips (including Meagher's acceptance speech) and making it 'funny' with comments about Alf's Rape Dungeon and how he would rape innocent people and such.

IF you are part of this page I urge you to leave, while I cannot force you to, I think you really need to examine why you would be on such a 'fanpage', do you really think Rape is such a funny thing that you need to go out and joke about it? OR wouldn't your time be better spent educating the world about rape, and ways to prevent it?

Hollyoaks Producer Paul Marquess To End Spoilers!

Digital Spy is reporting that Hollyoaks producer Paul Marquess is set to end spoilers! How is he going to do this?

Later in the year we'll be doing a story for which we'll film three endings
and no-one will know until the night of transmission which one we'll use."

Do you think this plan will work? And better yet should more US soaps go to this extreem to keep endings a secret?

Mickey Mouse Kicks SoapNet Out In Favor Of Disney Junior!

It's the moment we all feared would happen. Disney has announced that in 2012 Brian Frons will no longer be helming Soapnet, as Soapnet goes dark in favor of the currently titled kids channel Disney Junior.
I cannot say I am shocked by this move. Kids programming is what Disney should be targeting, and a Nick Jr. type channel fits. With that said I know I personally will miss Soapnet, and I hope that some other network will come and pick up the pieces.
Do you think this is the end of Soaps on cable? Is there hope left? Also do you agree with the move to kill off soapnet? Let me hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Reaction to Aden's Exit on Home and Away

Last Week actor Todd Lasance left Summer Bay on the Australian soap Home and Away, and I have to say his exit was probably one of the most piss-pour disappointments that I have had for this show.

Aden didn't have a big storyline to lead up to his exit, it was just a sortof "My brothers leaving so I guess I will leave with him since I just broke up with my girlfriend" kinda thing. It was completely out of character, and it really didn't fit with how I envisioned his exit.

Did you enjoy the exit? Or do you agree that it was just a load of crap?

Summer and Harry Kiss On Neighbours!

YAY!!!! This week on Neighbours young love finds its way as Harry Ramsey and Summer Hoyland kiss!

I personally really like this couple and I am interested in seeing where things go, is anyone else interested?

Interview with EastEnders New Executive Producer Bryan Kirkwood

The folks over at Digital Spy scored themselves an interview with EastEnders newest executive producer Bryan Kirkwood. In the interview the former Hollyoaks boss discusses what it was like working on Hollyoaks, the differences between the two shows, how he was accepted and much more.

Here is a quick snippet of the interview:

What's your overall vision for the show?
"The obvious fear is that I'm going to turn EastEnders into Hollyoaks - but that's not going to happen. Quite the contrary. I feel the storytelling tactics on Hollyoaks - like the dream sequences and flashbacks - work brilliantly because that's how it was originally conceived. In contrast, my approach to EastEnders is to make it as real as possible. It must exist in reality. Over the course of 25 years of story, the sense of it being a real place with real people has occasionally been lost. I'd like to retrieve that and ensure that sense of reality runs through every story."

The full interview can be read here.

Are you looking forward to Kirkwoods run on EastEnders?

Mr. Kirkwood's first episode airs on June 7th 2010.

Still Kishin Along

It seems like actor Scott Evans (ex-Oliver Fish, OLTL) hasn't let go of his "Kish" roots just yet. The actor tweeted yesterday:

"Happy mother's day to Crystal Hunt!!! (whats her twitter??) We have a child together. : )"

Awe.. So i have to ask the fans, are you still missing Kish? Or are you over it?

EastEnders Axes Two More!

Bryan Kirkwood better watch himself, the new EastEnders executive producer (and former Hollyoaks producer) has been on an axing spree, and this time he axed two characters I actually enjoy!

Actress Madeline Duggan (Lauren Branning) and Charlie Jones (Ben Mitchell) are both set to leave the BBC1 soap later this year.

This comes hot off the heals of the firings of Lacey Turner (Stacey Slater), Tiana Benjamin (Chelsea Fox), Gillian Wright (Jean Slater), Cliff Parisi (Minty Peterson) and Derek Martin (Charlie Slater).

Are you upset about any of these axing's ? Let me know in the comments below.

Kym Marsh Is Coronations Streets New Flagship Star?

Digital Spy say what? In a recent post Digital Spy is reporting that actress Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) is being groomed by new executive producer Phil Collinson to be the shows flagship star.

""Phil's told Kym hes going to make her the biggest name on Coronation Street," an insider claimed.

"In recent years it's virtually unheard of to get a two-year deal on so much money, but Kym is one star Phil is determined to keep. He thinks she's a great talent.""

Do you think Kym has what it takes to carry Corrie on her shoulders? Or is this news post just wishful thinking? Let me know what you Corrie fans think in the comments below.

My Rant On A SoapStars Recent Interview..

Have you ever listened to an interview of a famous actor that you have never seen before and gotten the impression that “THIS IS WHY I HAVE NEVER SEEN YOU?” and more to the point that “this is why I hope you never come back”?

Recently a ‘well known’ soap star did an interview where they basically showed why they are no longer on my screen. They were all over the place with a “I am doing it for The CAUSE” and it was all about how they were doing the ‘moral’ thing and those running the show were the horrible villain’s of the piece. While I was listening just one constant thing kept running thru my mind, and it was probably a horrible thing to say to this stars fans, but I personally hope this star never returns to their soap, ever!. It was just a horrible interview that re-confirmed my suspicions about this star and why I cannot stand them from at least a ‘personal’ standpoint.

Now let me just clarify that this has no reflection on the person’s acting ability, they may be worthy of all of the awards and acclaim that they were presented with. But what they have shown me is that they are a stuck up, pretentious snob that deserved to be fired, and deserved everything that they have gotten from their former home.

I am sure right now the star is sitting in some place with hundreds of admiring fans just gleaming and thinking that “they are right” and that my point is just wrong and I should be ignored while they go on making millions off their products (and getting millions in the pockets of those who work under them) but if this star was to ever return to their former soap, I for one will be one of the lone people that will probably tune out, because I do not advocate the way that they ‘spoke out’ and it, in my opinion, is not the same as when Kim Zimmer or Erica Slezak, because when those actresses spoke out they did it with some form of manner, and style, but this star just came off as a stuck up “do it my way, which is of course the right way, or I am GONE!” and I am sorry but Daytime is DYING, you may have a point, and I may have agreed with some of your arguments HAD you said them in a different manner, but the ONLY thing that I got out of that interview was that you deserved the boot long before you got it and I am just happy that they finally got sick of your crap and fired you.

Okay that’s enough rambling from me, I mean we are only at about 500 words…okay we are not at 500 words yet, but dang it I will keep going until we are. So what did you think of my points, do you agree with them? And can you ‘guess’ who I am talking about, I am sure you can, but don’t point it out in the comments just say something like “I know”. Anyways I know this was a long rant, but thank you for sticking around and reading this whole thing, and let me know if you want to see more “J Rants” in the future, because I am sure there is something or other that I can go off about every week, and you can only imagine the fun I would have taking on the blogosphere, so let me know in the comments below YAYYYY 600 words! Okay that’s it I’m out!

Vicky Binns OUT at Coronation Street

Oh darn Vicky Binns who plays the two timing house wrecker Molly Dobbs is leaving Coronation Street....I am so sad........-.- sorry its hard to lie, I really REALLY am glad that she and that stupid storyline is leaving Corrie.

Molly as a character was one that i used to enjoy, but in 2009 when they began the 'affair' storyline between Molly and Kevin.... Now Molly is knocked up but doesn't know who the father is. Its either Kevin or her husband Tyrone's -.-, meanwhile Kevin's wife Sally found out she has breast cancer, and his daughter is now a lesbian....ugh

So Molly, don't let the door hit you on the way out you marriage wrecking person you! LOL.

Also I am wishing the best of luck to Vicky because her portrayal has been ace, and I look forward to seeing her back on my screen and on another show soon.

My Thoughts On Chad Duell and the Recasting of Micheal on General Hospital

So Chad Duell has been in the role of Michael Corinthos III for a little bit now, and I feel like I have given it enough time that I can actually comment on the subject without being completely bias, or jumping on the poor guy during his first few days.

Chad came into the role with a very controversial ousting of Drew Garrett, for whatever behind the scenes reasons it may or may not be. So I do not hold that against Chad, but with that said the acting ability between the two actors is night and day, and unfortunately for Chad he is not the better actor.

Chad is by no stretch of the imagination a horrible actor, he does an okay job with the material he is being given, but the problem is that Drew was able to do such a wonderful job with every scene he was given that any recast that was not phenomenal would always just fall flat.

IF Chad had come into the role from the start I really don't think I would mind him, he is like i said, an alright actor. But the comparison to Drew will never stop, just like the comparison to Jonathan Jackson's portrayal of Lucky Spencer was always held up high when people compared to that of those Greg Vaughan and Jacob Young.

Does that mean it is right? No, it doesn't, but in a day when the industry is dying and very few actors can inspire viewers to tune in every day, Chad does not make a fair compromise for the ousting of Drew, especially when there has never been (and probably will never be) an official statement by ABC about the "REAL" reason Drew was fired.

Do you agree with my thoughts on Chad? Am I being to hard on the guy? Or is he what Micheal C should have been from the start? Let me hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Digital Spy's Interview with Marc Elliott (EastEnders Syed)

The folk's over at Digitalspy have secured themselves an interview with EastEnders star Marc Elliot who plays Syed Masood, a character who's recent same-sex romance storyline has been the talk of the internet since it began last summer.

Here is a tiny glimpse of what you can find by reading the interview-

Do you think you could ever see Syed's family accepting Christian as his partner?
"I think that'd be nice, but it's cloud cuckoo land to think that. I really don't think it'll happen. Because of the traditional nature of the family, I can't see them coming to terms with Syed and Christian as a couple. And actually, I don't even think Syed can come to terms with them as a couple. Time will tell, though. It's such a hard thing to reconcile faith with sexuality and make it work.

Guiding Lights Grant Aleksander Blog Post

Former Guiding Light star Grant Aleksander has recently made a blog post where he comments on leaving Guiding Light, and what the future holds for him, and his fellow co-stars over at the newly created 9 after 7 productions.

When the show wrapped I asked to have the fireplace seat and andirons from the Spaulding Study. Countless times over the years I had sat on them or kneeled before them speaking to one of my kids or Beth or, in the old days, being lectured to by Alan . They will always bring back wonderful memories to me.

Neighbours "Underborough" Skit

Ever wonder what would happen if Neighbours was shown at a later timeslot and written by the people over at Underbelly? Well wait no more because the cast and crew created a little skit that was deemed "to hot to handle" by the logies, so check it out and tell me what you think in the comments below.

Actor Erin Mullally Debuts On Neighbours

Actor Erin Mullally debuted as Declan Napier on the Australian soap Neighbours this past Monday (5916), what were your initial thoughts on him? Is he a good fir for Declan? Should they have just left the role alone? Or are you already asking "James who?" Let me know what you think in the comments below.

James Sorensen Last Episode Of Neighbours

Well that's all folks, actor James Soresen's last episode as Declan Napier has aired (5915). I am sad to see him go, and I am really upset that they recast the role, but hey maybe it will all work out? Who knows. Anyways what did you guys think of his final episode? Let me know in the comments below.

Margot Robbie May Leave Neighbours!?

Oh crap, rumors are swirling that Margot Robbie (Donna Freedman) wants to leave once her contract expires later this year. Thankfully talks are still going on and nothing is settled for sure, but it sure doesn't calm my nerves, and I will just have to remain hopeful until the final word comes out.

Do you want Margot to stay or go? Let us know in the comments below.

Annie Leaves Home and Away

And this is why I do not read spoilers.

Annie Campbell played by actress Charlotte Best left the bay this past week (on episode 5063) and I have to say I was both completely shocked, and destroyed when Annie announced she was going to be leaving.

This time last year I would have been jumping up and down saying "SEEYA ANNIE!" because to be honest she was to much of a goodie-goodie, a wet blanket, and she couldn't act...but when they paired her with newbie (and now Logie winning star) Luke Mitchell (Romeo) both the actress and the character improved 1,000%.

But now Annie is gone, my up-and-coming super couple is destroyed.

"The best love stories end in tragedy"

I think that line sums it up right there. The Annie/Romeo love story was meant to be a tragedy from the start of 2010, it just sucks that I loved it so much and now its over.

Anyways am I the only Annie/Romeo fan out there? Or are you going to miss them as well? Let me know in the comments below.

Axle Whitehead and Rebecca Breeds perform on Home and Away

This past week during Home and Away's reproduction of Romeo and Juliet, (with the roles reversed, boys playing girls and girls playing boys), actress Rebecca Breeds and her co-star Axle Whitehead (who play Ruby Buckton and Liam Murphy) got to show off their singing abilities with "Kisses hurt so much".

What did you think of that scene? Would you like for Rebecca to sing more and possibly record a CD? Or did you hate it? Let me know in the comments below.
