Looking At Web Pilot: Relapse

Wow, just wow. I just had the opportunity to check out the pilot for a new web series entitled Relapse thanks to @armlessphelan on twitter, and my jaw just hit the floor with how well it was produced. Is it perfect? No, but it's major imperfection is the fact that the pilot was over before it started.

The characters, plot, acting, and production quality for the pilot were extremely high, and it showed great promise for what a full fledged series 'could' be if they continued to tell the story of these characters.

As it stands however the pilot was it, and while it left me wanting more, I don't know how long that "wanting more" will be before Relapse isn't just a fond memory of 'what could have been'.

Just wow. My hat goes off to the folks over at Sony entertainment and Days of Our Lives for pushing the Will story further than any American soap has gone before. While I will be "comparing kisses" in the next post, I wanted to just take a moment to say well done and give Days props for what they have done.

Okay DON'T Kill me soap fans, I saw this clip from Ellen and I HAD To share! We know Ellen Degeneres is a soap fan so hey don't kill me! LOL

Anyways in this clip Zac Effron and Taylor Swift sing a song "Everytime I come on this show it's really weird because of Ellen" and I don't know why but I found it catchy and I loved it. So say what you will about my taste but it's gonna be stuck in my head for at least the next few hours...

After much anticipation the artwork for Neighbours From the Beginning Volume 1 has been revealed! As previously reported this six disc set will include the first 56 episodes of the series!

The series is being released as PG- for mild themes, sexual references, and infringement course language - So was Neighbours in the beginning the Neighbours after dark that our @SoapOperaBabble really wants? Nope. But it is a bit different than the G rated series we have today.

DeVanity Season 2 Episode 6 Recap And Reactions

Hey guys! Yes a brand new episode of DeVanity aired yesterday, and I was unable to watch it then but it's still fresh so let's get into the recap and reactions of this SFN original series.

Did Home and Away fire Jay Laga'aia Over Race?

It's good to see I am not the only one who is stirring up a little drama on the soap front, former Home and Away star Jay Laga'aia who played Elijah Johnson has taken to twitter and alleged that his recent firing had more to do with his race than anything else.

Hats off to you Firass Dirani, for a call to stop commercial network producers casting only white actors. Only on Australian screens. Shame!

As someone who lost his job on H&A because they couldnt write two ethnics that weren't together, I'd like a chance to ply my trade freely

I think commercial TV should take a leaf out of children's TV in this country. We are a rainbow nation in kids TV. No tokens here.

Meanwhile a representative for the 7 network (which broadcast Home and Away in Australia) told the Herald Sun

"Jay's comments are offensive. We have great regard for Jay and his work on Home and Away during the last two years.

"It is insulting to suggest that Home and Away is racist. His character's storyline reached a natural conclusion."

While I feel for both parties I can't help but side with both in this matter. On one hand the character of Elijah lost all momentum that had been going for him when Laga'aia took his break to go film his movie. Thus when he came back in 2011 it felt little more than to little to late and felt like the character was shoehorned into the story and didn't really have a place anymore.

At the same time there was plenty of potential stories to be told with Elijah had the network really wanted to sit down and think things through. I do believe the story of Elijah and Leah have come to a natural end, but does that have to be the end of Elijah? I guess the answer is yes...

I wish both parties the best of luck in the future, and look forward to seeing Elijah's exit this April.

Ragged Isle episode 3 recap and reactions

Hey all its another week and I am still watching Ragged Isle, Dark Shadows esque the drama is still going, I was still awaiting that “hooking” factor to appear, will tonight’s episode be the one to keep me going?

Catherine Hickland Says "Soap Fans Are Being Heard"

Interesting - former One Life To Live actress Catherine Hickland rally's fans saying that they are being heard by people in charge, especially at other networks, and that there is still a possibility of these shows coming back.

Now was this just wishful thinking and trying to put herself in a good light or is there actually a shot at these shows returning? I would love to be an optimist and say "there is always a chance" but at the same time I kinda feel like the optimum time for One Life to Live to have returned has past, and that while there are still fans out there that would follow it, the show has lost the momentum it would have had, if Prospect park had continued on with their efforts.

Ragged Isle Episode 2 Recap and Reactions

To say I went a little hard on the premiere of the SFN drama Ragged Isle would be probably the biggest understatement ever made on this blog, or probably in the world, but I stand by my initial thoughts that I posted last week, and I still believe that it is best to be honest when talking about these productions, because they ARE the future of the entertainment medium and instead of building relationships off of lies and coddling I would rather build them on truth and honesty.

With that said now that I have had another trip to Ragged Isle, not to mention a week to get to let the initial episode sit and compare to the initial episodes of DeVanity and Pretty did my impression change any?

Days Of Our Lives Recasting Santo Dimera????

Well this is odd, Days Of Our Lives has put out a casting call for a new Santo Dimera to play the role for 2 episodes with potential for more later on. Considering the role was originated by James Scott who is still on contract I really don't see the point to this recast, but hey that's just me.

Speculation on what this return could mean for Stefano (especially his paternity) have been running rampant over the internet, but we will just have to tune in and find out in May/June when these scenes will air.

So a brand new episode of The SFN Network's series DeVanity just aired, and I am here to recap the action and discuss what I think now that I am all caught up.

Is The SFN's DeVanity All It's Hyped Up To Be?

I have been kind-of quite here on the blog lately, especially where it concerns the internet darling that is the SFN web series DeVanity but with Ragged Isle kicking off our web soap coverage into full swing I finally decided to give the series a proper go. Unlike Ragged Isle however, I had the entire first season and a few episodes of season 2 to marathon and get to know the cast and crew through before writing this blog post.

Jane Beale's EastEnders Exit

Good gosh everyone is leaving the square these days! First Pat, than Kat, and RICKY! Now JANE! :(

Jane's exit however was done much better, in my opinion, than Kat or Ricky's because it gave actual build up and follow through and I really enjoyed that. YES her getting a job from a random hobo was kinda odd and rushed, but I did like her good-bye party and the way they treated her was just brilliant. Hopefully Jane will return, but if she doesn't at least she got a proper EastEnders exit in the back of a car.
We will miss you Jane so don't be a stranger!

Pretty The Series Season 1: Recap and Review!

When I was trying to decide what websoap to cover next after Ragged Isle, I saw a tweet about Pretty: The Series 3rd season finale airing soon! So I thought what the heck and decided to check it out. (YES I am also watching Devanity slowly and will probably have the season 1 recap and review for that series done shortly)

So without further ado, let's get pretty.

Ricky Butcher's EastEnders Exit

The residents of Albert Square bid EastEnders star Sid Owen farewell as his character Ricky Butcher was kicked out of his house, family, and marriage by Bianca after she found out about his affair with Mandy Salter and his lie about the two's child.

While Ricky has never been my favorite character on the show, I did feel that this exit was kinda piss poor. I mean Ricky stuck with Bianca throughout her prison sentence and took care of HER kids, he did forgive her for cheating on him with Dan Sullivan, and it just seems like a rushed way to break up this popular pairing, and I hate that.

But hopefully Ricky will once again return and we can see Bianca and him rebuild their relationship.

First Impressions of Hetti Bywater As Lucy Beale

Now that we have had a bit of time to adjust to actress Hetti Bywater in the role of Lucy Beale on EastEnders it is time to give your thoughts! What do you think of her performance? Does she fit your vision of Lucy?

Leah is looking for Brax - Casey tells her Brax has gone out for a surf. That's a good sign. Casey thanks Leah for looking after Brax - she's obviously having more luck than Casey is. She goes home and finds Elijah slept on the couch. Elijah's a bit funny when he finds out Leah stayed at Brax's - it's not what you think Elijah, don't get jealous. If you'd seen Brax throwing up like we did in yesterday's episode, you'd know Brax wasn't up for anything last night but passing out. Leah asks Elijah why he stayed on the couch - Ruby comes out of her room, which pretty much answers the question. Leah is really happy to see Ruby.
