DeVanity Season 2 Episode 6 Recap And Reactions

Hey guys! Yes a brand new episode of DeVanity aired yesterday, and I was unable to watch it then but it's still fresh so let's get into the recap and reactions of this SFN original series.

WARNING: THE FOLLOWING RECAP INCLUDES A MAJOR SPOILER! DO NOT CONTINUE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SPOILED/ HAVE SEEN THE EPISODE!

The episode begins with Jason (Michael Caruso) talking with Alex (Mike Dirksen) about Bianca (Katie Caprio). Jason explains that Binx's is married to Andrew Reggis (Kyle Lowder) to which Alex isn't very happy, but can you really blame him? So he says he wants his wife back, but there is the whole tiny matter of being legally declared dead and possibly going to prison for faking his death that they have to deal with first. Thus enter Porcha (Katie Apicella) who walks over, after over listening on the conversation, and says that she can help write a claim stating that Alex didn't intentionally fake his death, and that they could get it collaborated by Sebastian if needed. Alex is thankful but he wants to know what the catch is. Porcha says "Marry me". They discuss it breifly but Porcha simply walks away after making her demands and Jason says congrats and walks off to call a justice of the peace to perform the ceremony, meanwhile Alex just looks like a lost ball in high weeds, he got his 'life' back, but was the cost worth coming back?

We then cut to Jackie (Erin Buckley) apartment where Bianca has arrived. Jackie tries to make some snide remarks towards Binx's but she isn't paying attention, she's there to talk to Sebastian, she explains that she met "some guy" that was supposed to come over with Jason, and long story short slept with him - "Typical" Jackie replies- Bianca says that he keeps passing out and needs help. Sebastian then chirps in that of course they are going to help him and so the trio wander out to the car, where they see that it's Byron! Jackie and Sebastian are shocked and a bit disgusted, they talk between themselves but Bianca demands to know what they are talking about so they finally reveal that this 'stranger' is Bryon!

Back at Jason's we see Jason and Lara ( Alexis Zibolis) are discussing Alex and Porcha's wedding and the fact that Cassie Coragin (Kali Cook from California Heaven ) is coming and that Lara need's to be on her best behavior. It's then that Cassie shows up. She explains she had the need for some diamonds and just had to drive over. Lara makes a remark to which Cassie fully hears but gives Lara the opportunity to cover, which she 'attempts' to do.

We then go to Alex and Porcha in the bedroom making out. Porcha says he deserves a wife that will love him, they talk a bit and eventually Alex says that he want's to take it slow. It's then that Porcha says she has something to tell him.

Jason is showing Cassie a piece of jewelry that she loves when they hear Alex scream, they run in and Alex has her dress lifted, "She has a penis" "How did I not see this" "YOUR A MAN!?" "THIS IS HOW YOU TELL HIM" - Yep that's the general reaction there. Cassie basically says that this doesn't fly with her so bill her for the necklaces and leaves. Jason is in shock, and Cassie ends the episode by saying she's not a man, just a hermaphrodite.

Reactions

This episode was hyped up as having one of the biggest OMG cliffhanger moments of the series, and I have to admit I was a bit skeptical coming in, but yep, the series did a good job shocking me. I just...didn't expect that. I am also glad that they made Porcha a hermaphrodite vs. a male-to-female pre-op transgender. It's something a bit different that we haven't really seen done before. Yes Vincent from Passions was a hermaphrodite, but he also stalked half of harmony, raped multiple people, got pregnant by his own father and cut his father's penis off so his drunk mother could attach it on backwards. I am not really worried about that foolishness here. I think DeVanity will handle it in a respectful way and create some good story out of it, and hopefully not impregnate Porcha with herself or have her chop and reattach someone's body parts backwards (since she is a doctor she could do it all herself! YAY SAVE MONEY!)

Overall I thought the episode was good. I did think that Alex's initial hesitation towards marrying Porcha to his shirtless making out after the wedding seemed a tiny bit rushed, but given the time restraints I understand why they did what they had to do to get the characters where they needed to be for that final moment.

The crossover with California Heaven really did nothing for me personally because I have only watched a few early episodes of CH, but I did think that it was incorporated well and provided a few fun scenes without distracting viewers away with a big "WE CROSSED SOMEONE OVER" storyline.

I really liked what the gang did with the episode and I look forward to next weeks!
